Facebook New Messaging System is Out to All Users

Facebook New Messaging System

Facebook New Messaging System

Facebook announced today on their Blog that they are rolling out (gradually) their new messaging system, which is exciting for numerous reasons. Since it is not out yet (only for some users), we will try to show you what we gathered thus far. All we know now is that the new Facebook Messages system will combine SMS, chat, messaging and e-mail into one communication platform.

    SMS Your Friends

With the new system, you will now have the ability to send SMS to your friends. In the picture below, the person doesn’t have SMS activated, but you can request that he turn it on.

    @Facebook.com Email

This is probably the most exciting feature of them all. No only Facebook is entering into a foreign territory, but it is also signaling Google about their intentions to go head to head with Gmail.  It will be interesting to see how things will develop on this end.
According to Facebook, you will be able to choose a username@facebook.com, which will probably be your personal Facebook username. I am curious to see if Facebook pages will get the same thing, which then means that Facebook is opening a wide door into Email Marketing (Exciting!).

Archiving Messages

I am not sure about you, but I really like to archive. We deal with a lot of customers here at Sollé Coaching, and archiving is one way to keep things organized. It will be interesting to see if this archive system is as efficient as the Gmail one for instance.

There are a few more features coming, but we thought that these were the most significant that really change the rules on the field.  Our prediction is that Facebook will eventually rollout a similar messaging system to their Pages too, which will turn Facebook into a hub for Internet Marketing.

Facebook Launches The New Pages Platform. Are You Prepared?

Sollé Coaching - Online Marketing

Sollé Coaching - Online Marketing

After months of speculations, it is finally out. Facebook announced today some major improvements to their Fan pages, mainly to the page platform itself. What does it mean for you as an owner? Well, to answer this we at Solle Coaching decided to gather what we think are the top changes that will help you manage your fan page smoother.

Pages Become More Like Personal Profiles

As you can see in the image below, the changes are quite obvious and overwhelming at first look. But, by the end of this post we will show you how simple and powerful these changes can be for your business.

Let’s start with the look. Go ahead and click the image now (it will open in a new window). Now sit back and look at it. Does it remind you of something? Yes, your personal Facebook profile. The first thing that is quite visible are the photos on top, which, again, is similar to your own personal account. In fact, the entire page looks and feels like a personal profile, but this is where it also ends.

List of Changes

  • Administrators have the ability to receive notifications about Fans activity. The need for using services such as Hyper Alerts is no longer. This, in our opinion, is huge because it gives administrators the ability to engage in real time, which is very important if you want to keep establishing your relationships with your audience.
  • Pages can interact with other Pages. This is a great way to expose your Fan Page to other communities (make sure not to do it as a self promotion though. Rather, try to focus on contributing to the other community).
  • There are new filters that allow users to see the most interesting posts on a page first. If you keep focusing on adding insightful posts, and adding value to your community, this can be the difference between a “like” and a “next”.
  • You can switch back and forth between Personal account, and Fan Page account. We agree it takes time to get use to, but in the long run it is a great feature to have if you constantly need to change between accounts.
  • You can link your Fan page to your Twitter Account. We cannot emphasize enough how big of a feature this can be for your business. Just keep one thing in mind: No spamming.
  • As you can see from the image, the Insights section moved to the left. Numbers are everything in social media, so make sure to check this feature on a regular basis.

Why Do You Care?

That is an excellent question with a simple answer: BECAUSE YOUR COMMUNITY CARES! You see, all the tools that we described above can help your page become a hub of valuable information for your community, and the faster you learn how to operate these tools, the better it is for everyone on your page.

What about some Q’s?

We are sure you have some questions. Great, it means that you are human. We look forward to answering your questions, so make sure to place them in the comments section below. Don’t be shy, we are here to help.

3 Steps To Creating Content for Social Media

Aren't we bombarded with the fact that in online marketing and social media platforms, content is king? You've heard it. Read it. Watched it. And it does make sense: We have so many better options to spend our time on than read about a company that is simply interested in increasing sales and only interested in announcing sales, discounts, etc. Yet creating content can be daunting. In the beginning of working together, new Sollé Coaching clients question whether they have anything valuable to say, or they don't know how to create valuable content. So I have implemented this 3 step program for them: read more »

Who Do You Blog For? Here’s My Secret Audience

I get a lot of questions on how to blog for your target audience. We even discussed this on #blogchat today on Twitter. I find it very pressuring to blog for a vast, faceless audience with so many different backgrounds and needs. It's also very impersonal for me and when I write, it is a very personal experience. So I blog for one person and one person alone. No, not my husband. Sorry darling. It is actually: read more »
